Richard Earl Melton, 57, of Milano died Thursday, March 12, 2020, at his home.

Services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday, March 21, at Milano High School Gym with burial following at Griffin Chapel Cemetery in the Griffin Chapel community.

Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, March 20, at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale.

Mr. Melton was born Feb. 6, 1963, in Cameron to his mother, Mamie Pauline Melton.

He lived all of his life in the Milano area, and was a 1981 graduate of Milano High School.

After graduation, he began working at Luminant where he stayed until his death.

On Dec. 27, 1983, he married Pam Gunnels.

After her death, he met Jenny Decker and they married on Feb. 14, 2013.

Mr. Melton was preceded in death by his mother, Mamie Melton, on Dec. 21, 2007; his first wife, Pam Melton, on Sept. 15, 2007; their daughter, Delilah Denise Melton, on Sept. 15, 2007; a granddaughter, Brittany Brenna Johnson, on Sept. 15, 2007; and his grandparents, Edna and Albert Melton Sr.

Survivors are his wife, Jenny Melton; two sons, Kendall Clayton and Jordan Melton; five daughters, Rebekah Melton, Lexi Voelker, Sterling Robertson, Kenna Robertson and Pey-Pey Robertson; his grandchildren, Danetria Johnson, Doby Johnson Jr., Graycen Davis and Beckett Voelker; two sons-in-law, Frank Voelker IV and Ben King; his adopted children, Mayson Gibbons, J.D. Gibbons and Faullen Gibbons; two sisters, Edith Fay Melton and Barbara Scott; his parents-in-law, Charles and FayeLee Cox and Bert and Lynn Decker; his brothers-in-law, Huey Scott, Jake Decker and wife Kayla, Charles Cox and husband Pete, John Cox, David Gunnels, Jr. and Joe Gunnels; a sister-in-law, Debra Gunnels; and a goddaughter, Alexis Melton; also, numerous aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.

Pallbearers are Robert Yakesch, David Gunnels, James McBride, Rabbit Tindle, Dominique Messer, Haze Melton, Chris Gunnels, C.J. Washington, E.J. Ross and Darrel Moore. Honorary pallbearers are the Luminant dragline crew.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Richard Melton Benefit at Rockdale Federal Credit Union, 1821 W. Cameron Ave., Rockdale, TX 76567.
