Michael Alan Gardiner

Michael Alan Gardiner, 66, of Rockdale passed away peacefully July 27, 2023, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in College Station, surrounded by loved ones.

He was born Aug. 20, 1956, in Downey, California.

Mr. Gardiner joined the U.S. Army at 17, where he served four years as a tank driver.

After the Army, he started his career as a truck driver. In between driving trucks, he owed a sign-painting business in Southern California. He drove trucks for 35 years.

Mr. Gardiner enjoyed baseball.

He loved his family and his dog, Rocky.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin and Donna Gardiner; and a grandson, Jaylon Dykes.

Survivors are three sons, Daniel Gardiner of Rockdale, Ryan Gardiner and wife Heather of Washington, Michael Gardiner Jr. and wife Meghan of Salt Lake City, Utah; a daughter, Maria Carpentino and husband Henry of Rockdale; his grandsons, Isaiah Sauls, Brody Lopez and Anthony Lopez, all of Rockdale; three sisters, Debbie and husband John of California, Cindy and husband Eric of Georgia, and Karen of California; and longtime friend and caregiver, Lisa Richardson of Rockdale; also, several nieces and nephews.
