Mr. Cliff Dungan
A Celebration of Life for Clifford Thomas “Cliff” Dungan, 75, of Rockdale will be held at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 3, 2019, at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale with Minister Jason Hollinger officiating.
Visitation will also be Thursday, 5:30 p.m. until service time.
Cliff passed away Friday, Sept. 27, at St. David’s Hospital in Georgetown.
He was born June 19, 1944, in Dallas to Clair and Barbara Jean (Gibbony) Dungan.
He graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in Dallas and went on to receive his bachelor degree in animal science from Texas A&M University in College Station. While at A&M, he was first sergeant in the Corp of Cadets.
On June 10, 1967, he married Marilyn Elizabeth “Betsy” Bisbee in Rockport.
Cliff was a member of Murray Street Church of Christ in Rock-dale.
Before moving to Rockdale, he worked at Central Soya as a manager in a turkey processing plant in North Carolina. He then worked in textiles and following that, he moved to Arizona and Wyoming to work at Brown & Root to be a crane operator.
Cliff moved on to Rockdale where he worked 23 years with Fluor Daniel in the power plant as a crane operator and industrial maintenance. He also helped lay the first iron to start the building of Unit 4 at the power plant. He retired in 2001.
After Fluor Daniel, he went to work for The Rockdale Reporter beginning in November 2002 up until the time of his passing. Cliff was employed as a photographer, then later worked as printer and handyman, and also worked in the distribution of the paper.
Cliff was preceded in death by his parents and his mother-in-law, Pauline Bisbee.
Survivors are his wife, Betsy Dungan of Rockdale; two daughters, Shannon Thompson and husband Reed of Leander, and Candace Dungan of Seattle, Washington; and two granddaughters, Claire Thompson of Leander and Annabelle Dungan Arbanasin of Seattle, Washington.
