Nieto

Mary Ann Nieto, 91, died Monday, April 6, 2020, at Double Creek Assisted Living in Round Rock.

Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Thursday, April 9, at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale. A private family graveside service will be held at a later date.

Mrs. Nieto was born March 25, 1929, in Sharp to Ignacio and Anita (San Miguel) Munoz.

She graduated from Sharp High School.

After graduation, she went to nursing school in San Antonio and worked as a nurse until 1955 when she and Heraclio Eddie Nieto were married on June 11, 1955 in Sharp.

Mrs. Nieto was a homemaker, as she continued to nurse.

They moved to Rockdale, where she lived from 1955 until 2002, when she moved to Round Rock with her son and daughter-in-law.

After she retired from nursing, Mrs. Nieto became a department manager with the Rockdale Walmart for 17 years.

She was a member of First Baptist Church and Meadowbrook Baptist Church in Rockdale.

Mrs. Nieto was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Heraclio Eddie Nieto on Oct. 2, 1993; four brothers, Ernest, Domingo, Liborio and Arthur Munoz; and three sisters, Isadora Munoz, Rufugio “Rose” Sanchez and Sarah Garcia.

Survivors are three sons, Eddie Nieto and wife Lisa of Round Rock, Paul Nieto and wife Ninfa of San Antonio, Phillip Nieto and wife Christine of New Bern, North Carolina; seven grandchildren, Shari Gere and husband Scott, Jonathan Nieto and wife Allison, Maria Donovan and husband Freddie, Joshua Nieto, John Paul Nieto, Edward Alexander Nieto and Heather Nieto; a brother, Raymond Munoz; and three sisters, Annie Rojas and husband Isador, Mary Harriet Ortega and Delores Varela and husband Jessie; also, three great-grandchildren.
