Leroy O. Olbrich passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 24, 2020, in Round Rock, Texas, and he is now in the arms of God.

He was born in Thorndale, Texas, on July 27, 1934, to Oswald an to Oswald and Henrietta (Simank) Olbrich.

Leroy was confirmed at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Thorndale in 1947 and later became a member of First United Methodist Church in Taylor, Texas.

He graduated from Thorndale High School in 1951 and loved his Bulldogs and all his animals.

He stole the heart of Charlene Tunstall and they were married in 1954.

Leroy served in the U.S. Army from 1957 to 1959. He worked at Ideal Motor Co. for five years and then Alcoa for 38 years.

He was a member of United Steel Workers of America and was awarded the Thorndale Bulldogs Top Dog in 2003.

Leroy was preceded in death by four brothers, Ewald, Freddie, Howard, Marvin, and a sister, Eleanor Olbrich Lehman.

He is survived by his loving wife of 66-plus years, Charlene Tunstall Olbrich; one son, Jeffrey Lee Olbrich and his fiancée Paula Eifert; a sister, Laura Belle Olbrich Patschke; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and great-great-nieces and nephews, plus many wonderful neighbors and friends.

Visitation was Sunday, June 28, from 2 to 4 p.m. at Condra Funeral Home in Taylor.

A private funeral service for family was held Monday June 29, at 10 a.m. at Condra Funeral Home Chapel in Taylor with burial following at Thorndale City Cemetery in Thorndale.

In lieu of flowers, those who wish can make donations to the Thorndale Ex-Students Association or the First United Methodist Church in Taylor.
