Peggy, a long-time resident of Rock-dale, Texas, was born on Feb. 23, 1931 to Archie Carl and Ludie Grace Skinner.

She married Joe Wright on Feb. 2, 1950, and they were together almost 59 years prior to his death on Jan. 23, 2009.

She was also preceded in death by her siblings, Louse Skinner Poole, Dorothy Skinner Terry and Wayne Skinner.

Peggy is survived by her daughter, Patty Farrell and husband Dudley of Mt. Pleasant; grandson Layton Farrell and wife Samantha of Mt. Pleasant; Natalie Honea and husband Will of Nacogdoches; and one great-granddaughter.

Peggy started working in Rockdale at the early age of 10 babysitting, ages 12-15 working for C.W. Matson at the downtown Dixie Theater, followed by working at Vogel’s Variety Store. She worked from ages 16 to 32 for Dr. John T. Richards as administrative assistant and office manager. Peggy worked for Alcoa more than 30 years, making extensive contributions to the transportation and ingot departments as supervisor of transportation and planning before retiring in 1994.

Peggy was a member of the First Baptist Church in Rockdale and salutatorian of the class of 1948. She looked forward to class reunions and Rockdale homecomings.

In 2000, she and Joe relocated to Mt. Pleasant to be near their daughter and family.

Peggy enjoyed visits with family and friends, gardening, painting, sewing, and cross-stitching. She was deeply interested in genealogy, loved English Bulldogs, and was a technology enthusiast from the early 80s on.

She donated to many charities and was a patron to her favorite artists.

At Peggy’s request, there will be no formal service. Memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.
