Perrard

Roy Lee Perrard, 81, of Rockdale passed away Saturday, Aug. 13, 2022, in Round Rock.

He went peacefully to his eternal resting place surrounded by his family.

Visitation will be Thursd ay, Aug. 18, from 6-8 p.m.—with a rosary at 7 p.m.—and visitation Friday, Aug. 19th from 8-9:30 a.m. at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale.

Funeral mass will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 19, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Rockdale with burial following at I.O.O.F. Cemetery.

Roy was born Oct. 9, 1940, in Witting to Edmund and Lena (Spies) Perrard. He was raised in Weimar, along with his seven siblings, attending school at St. Michael’s Catholic Church.

He later ser ved in the National Guard for a short period.

He met Virginia Miller in 1963 and the two were married on Oct. 24, 1964, in Columbus. They moved to Rockdale in 1965 when Roy began his career as a general mechanic/welder at Alcoa, where he made numerous lifelong friends.

They were blessed with two daughters, Jennifer and Tiffany.

He retired in 1996 after 31 years of hard work and dedication.

Roy was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus, volunteering countless hours.

He was an avid hunter and fisherman, which started early in his childhood when he would sometimes bring home something for his momma to cook up, according to his stories.

Dancing, playing softball and volleyball and barbecuing were also things he loved.

Roy never met a stranger, always had a smile and was ready to have a good time, making his family laugh until the very end. Family and friends were extremely important to him; he was always ready to lend a helping hand.

Roy spent the last several years soaking up his four grandchildren and all their activities, being their biggest fan, listening to his polka music and helping out on the farm with the cows; he had them well trained and fed.

He will be dearly missed but will be happily reunited with other family and friends who have gone before him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, in-laws, August and Annie Miller and wife “Ginny”; also, brothers Leroy, Bob and Bernard Perrard; sisters Earline Britton, Nettilee Korenek, Bernice Billeck and Charlene Fojt; brothers-inlaw Neal Britton, Ike Korenek, Bubba Billeck, Joe and Daniel Miller and Charlie Poncik; and sister-in-law Analee Miller.

He is sur vived by his daughters, Jennifer Buechter and husband Jeremy of Kilgore, Tiffany Galvan and husband Mitchell of Rockdale; grandchildren Allie and Luke Buechter and Tristan and Kinley Galvan; brothers-in-law Delmar Fojt and wife Mary Ann; and sisters-in-law Ann, Helen and Gracie Perrard and Dorothy Poncik; also, numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Pallbearers will be Mitchell and Tristan Galvan, Jeremy and Luke Buechter, Dusty Leopold, Richard Krenek, Chad Barcak and Robert Reese.

Honorary pallbearers are Michael and Alan Korenek, James and Paul Billeck, Rober t, Jerry, Gary and Wayne Perrard, Gaylon Fojt, Joey and Gregory Miller, Richard, Jimmy, Kenneth and Michael Poncik and Craig, Bradley and Jeffrey Miller.
