GIDDINGS—Funeral services for Kathy Lou (Becker) Phillips, 63, of Lexington where

held Monday, Aug. 26, 2019, at St. James Lutheran Church in Lexington with Rev. Robert Tiner and Rev. Chris Nietubicz officiating. Burial followed at St. James Lutheran Cemetery.

Mrs. Phillips went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Thursday, Aug. 22, at CHI St. Joseph Health Hospital in Bryan.

She was born on Sept. 24, 1955, in Electra to Edmund Walter and Helen Veronica (Bodling) Becker.

Mrs. Phillips was baptized on Oct. 9, 1955, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Harrold and was confirmed on March 22, 1970, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Giddings by Rev. Emil Krugler.

She married Homer Phillips on Dec. 5, 1980 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Giddings.

Mrs. Phillips served in the health care profession as a nurse for over 30 years.

She also volunteered at different periods in her life with organizations such as the Braille Society, Pack Pals and with Milam County Christmas Roundup.

Mrs. Phillips enjoyed baking, traveling, cooking Sunday family lunches, and slumber parties with her granddaughters.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Edmund Becker and Herman Dorsey and Helen Becker York, and a sister, Rita Diamond.

Survivors are her husband, Homer Phillips of Lexington; three children, Cory Phillips and wife Joelle, Mindy Miller and husband Jess, all of Milano, Marsha Pohorelsky and husband Jimmie of Giddings; seven grandchildren, Brittany Barks-dale of Fort Worth, Clay Barks-dale of Hawaii, Justin Barksdale of San Marcos, Mallory Miller and Jesalyn Miller, both of Milano, Miladie Pohorelsky and Had-lie Pohorelsky, both of Giddings; a brother, Edmund Becker Jr. and wife Jodie of Giddings; and two sisters, Shirley Meadows and husband Johnny of Georgia, Bonnie Campbell and husband Robert of El Campo; as well as, numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Pallbearers were Chris Beisert, Johnny Beisert, Gary Brown, Cory Phillips, Jacob Phillips and Dustin Spellman.

Honorary pallbearers were Michael Milburn, Jess Miller and Jimmie Pohorelsky.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital Research, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or to a charity of one’s choice.
