Raymond Brittian Powell

Raymond Brittian Powell, 87, of Rockdale passed away on Tuesday, Dec 31, 2024.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 11, 2025, at Peace Lutheran Church in Rockdale.

Britt was born Dec. 10, 1937, in Gladewater to HW and Ellen Mozelle Powell.

He moved to Alabama, Corpus Christi and then Rockdale, where he would attend RHS, find true love and marry Joeva Wenzel in 1958.

He served 20 years in the U.S. Air Force, loved to hunt and fish, and worked for Pepsi Cola, Anderson Clayton, U.S. Postal Service, Rockdale Chamber of Commerce, Rockdale School Board and KRXT.

He was preceded in death by his parents, stepfather Ed Morgan, and sister Clydie Fergus.

Britt is survived by his wife; daughter Paula Bowden and husband Ric of Port Lavaca; his son, James Powell and wife Trish of Rockdale; sister Ann and husband Lowell Highnote of McKinney; his grandsons, Jeremy Jacobs and wife Kristi of Marble Falls, Jeremy Cox and wife Tess of Rockdale, Chase Bowden and wife Kim of Port Lavaca; and his great-grandkids, Wade, Dylan and Hayes Jacobs, Jameson, Jonah, Nevina and Tex Cox, and Jaxon, Waylon and Riverlyn Bowden.
