Julian K. Rogers, 96, of Temple died Saturday, Jan. 18, 2020, at the Central Texas V.A. Hospital in Temple.

A funeral service was held Tuesday, Jan. 28, at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale, with Minister Eugene Van Noord officiating. Burial with military honors was at Sandy Creek Cemetery.

Mr. Rogers was born on Aug. 31, 1923, in Rockdale to James Kelso and Flossie (Yoakum) Rogers.

He enlisted into the U.S. Army, where he spent two years before joining the U.S. Air Force. He spent 22 years in the Air Force before retiring in 1966 with the World War II Victory Medal, the Humane Action Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, Air Force Longevity Service Award and the Good Conduct Medal.

Mr. Rogers returned to Texas and began working for Liquid Air as a gas plant operator. He retired from there after 16 years.

He was a member of the Church of Christ.

Mr. Rogers was preceded in death by his wife of over 50 years, Yvonne Rogers; his parents, Kelso and Flossie Rogers; and three sons, Jimmy, Leonard, and Bill Rogers; also, two grandchildren and three brothers.

Survivors are two daughters, Lindia Cooke and Julie Waltmire; two sons, Michel Jeannot and Dominique Jeannot; a brother, Earl Beathard; and three sisters, Leona Taylor, Shirley Swindall, and Enolia Purvis; also, nine grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Michael Taylor, Boyd Taylor, James Taylor, Travis Yoakum, Tim Taylor, Randy Purvis, Terry Cunningham and Kerry Schlemmer.

Honorary pallbearers were Jason Waltmire Christian Waltmire, Shane Walt-mire, Trent Wells, Troy Wells, Gary Rogers, Taylor Strauss and T Strauss.
