Schlottman

Avis Marie Schlottman, 89, of Hearne died Tuesday, July 28, 2020, at Crossroads Nursing & Rehab in Hearne.

Services were held Sunday, Aug. 2, at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale with Deacon Pete Brien of Hearne Church of Christ officiating. Burial was at I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Rockdale.

Mrs. Schlottman was born Jan. 15, 1931, in Cameron to Charlie Bradley and Nancy Lee (Travis) Gohman.

She was a graduate of Rockdale High School.

On Feb. 10, 1951, she married Eugene W. Schlottman in Hearne. They lived in Hearne where she worked as a telephone operator first with Southwestern Bell until her retirement and then with GTE.

Mrs. Schlottman was a member of Hearne Church of Christ.

She was the designated driver for a group of church ladies taking them to doctor’s appointments, to get groceries or any other trips that came up. She enjoyed sewing and travel.

Mrs. Schlottman was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Schlottman; a daughter, Debra Bengel; a son, James Wallace Schlott-man; a granddaughter, Lauren Ferguson Ingram; her parents; a brother, Roger Gohman; and two sisters, Helen Cumbie and Jane Blackshear.

Survivors are a son, Steve Schlottman and wife Clare of Hearne; a daughter, Donna Ferguson and husband Norman of Belton; her grandchildren, Bruce Wynn, Shawn Ferguson and partner Rachel, James Ferguson and wife Caroline, Keith Schlottman and wife Cheyanne; and a brother-in-law, Joe Black-shear.

Pallbearers were Lance Anderson, Allen Berry, Larry Hellner, Tyler Haney, Kenny Gaston and Mark Hilton.

Honorary pallbearer was Richard Dawson.
