Shelton

Funeral services for Willie Shelton, 81, of Lexington where held at 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 4, 2021, at Lexington Faith Temple Church in Lexington w ith Pastor Jim Moore officiating. Burial followed in Lexington Cemetery.

Willie M. Shelton was born on Oct. 25, 1939, in Lexington, the son of Roy and Tonie (Schuster) Shelton.

Willie graduated from Lexington High School in 1958.

He worked as a butcher at Lexington Mercantile before going to work for Sandow Power Plant in Rockdale. Willie worked at Sandow Power Plant for 26 years as a plant operator.

Willie married the love of his life, Frances Earline Robbins, at the pastor’s home in Buckholts on Aug. 5, 1961. Over their 60 years of marriage, Willie and Frances were blessed with three daughters and one son, as well as 11 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

He was a member of International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers.

Willie enjoyed many things in life things including hunting, fishing, gardening, and barbecuing. He also enjoyed working on anything mechanical, playing tennis, ranching, and spending time with his family and friends.

Willie passed away the morning of Wednesday, Sept. 29, at Ascension Seton Medical Center in Austin.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, two sisters, and one son-in-law.

Willie is survived by his wife, Frances Shelton; three daughters, Wanda and Louis Bostic of Elgin, Mary Retzloff of Lexington, Rebecca and Michael Partee of Georgetown; one son, William “Willie” and Angela Shelton of Giddings; 11 grandchildren, Michael Bostic of Austin, John Bostic of Elgin, Bailey Shelton of Oklahoma, Carter Shelton of Oklahoma, Rowan Shelton of Oklahoma, Gracie Shelton of Giddings, Annie and Clinton Murphy of Giddings, Beau Becton of North Dakota, Ashley and Dustin Brister of Lexington, Cassie Partee of Georgetown, and Chase Partee of Georgetown; three great-grandchildren, Carlisle Murphy of Giddings, Jason Brister of Lexington, and Allie Brister of Lexington; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family.

Memorials may be made to Lexington Faith Temple or the charity of one’s choice.
