Steve Sowders, 57, of Caldwell died Friday, Jan. 28, 2022, at Burleson St. Joseph Manor in Caldwell.

A funera l s e r v i c e was held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2022, at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in R o c k d a l e with Chaplin Heidi Dixon officiating. Burial was at Milano Cemetery in Milano. Mr. Sowders was born

Mr. Sowders was born on Feb. 28, 1964, to Gerald Edward and Shirley May (Thornton) Sowders in Sacramento, CA.

He worked in construction, mostly remodeling homes.

He was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in College Station.

Mr. Sowders was a loving father, extremely giving, and always willing to help.

He enjoyed bowling, golfing, and all things sports.

In August 2011, he was diagnosed with ALS and was given three to five years to live; he survived 10 years.

Mr. Sowders was preceded in death by his parents, Gerald and Shirley Sowders; a younger brother, Ricky Lynn Sowders; his grandparents, Edward and Louise Sowders, Odell and Ollie Thornton; and an uncle, Bobby Sowders.

Survivors are his daughter, Morgan Sowders; a son, Conner Sowders; his brothers, Danny Sowders and wife Vicki of Henderson, Ronnie Sowder and wife Charla of Cameron, Jerry Sowders of Hearne, Robert Sowders and fiancé Robin of Sugar Land, and Kevin Sowders of San Marcos; a sister, Cathy Westbrook and husband Karl; his favorite uncle, Don; an aunt, Jennie Sowders; and his cousins, Candy, Tracy and Dawn, all from Georgia; also, many nephews and nieces.

Serving as pallbearers were Danny Sowders, Ronnie Sowders, Jerry Sowders, Robert Sowders, Karl Westbrook and Kevin Sowders.
