Milton Ray “Pete” Taylor, 89, of Rockdale passed away on June 7, 2026, at home.
He was born June 18, 1936, in the Pleasant Grove community of Lee County.
Mr. Taylor Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday, June 11, at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be at I.O.O.F. Cemetery.
His family moved to Rockdale in 1949.
He graduated from Rockdale High School in 1955.
Mr. Taylor worked for 34 years at Dow Chemical, beginning in 1957. He was a supervisor over operations in energy systems.
He was a member of Local 564 of the International Union of Operating Engineers and Rockdale Lodge No. 414.
From 1957 to 1990, he was married to Peggy and from this union came two daughters, Elaine and Joan. In 1991, Milton married Carolyn and gained two stepsons, Charles and David.
Mr. Taylor began teaching Sunday School at the age of 21 and worked with youth for more than 40 years.
In his youth, he was a member of First Baptist Church, then a charter member of Meadowbrook Baptist Church. He later taught at Velasco Baptist Church in Freeport, Christ Lutheran Church in Lake Jackson and Peace Lutheran Church in Rockdale.
He is survived by his wife, Carolyn; daughter Elaine and Winny White; daughter Joan and Jerry Cook; stepson Charles and Donna Schneider; stepson David Schneider; and many grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Elvy and Mammie Taylor; brother Jason Husty Taylor; sister Ida O’Renee McNeil; and granddaughter Rachel White.
