On Tuesday, May 24, 2022, Jayne “Judy” Anne Henry Thompson, 86, of San Gabriel died in Weatherford.

Services were held Sunday, May 29, at San Gabriel Christian Church in San Gabriel with Pastor Billy Bob Cox officiating. Burial followed at I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Rockdale.

Mrs. Thompson was born Dec. 26, 1935, in Austin to Imogene Eliza Mitchell Smith and Jasper Warren Smith. After graduating from Thorn

After graduating from Thorndale High School, she attended Texas Christian University, majoring in English with a minor in music performing arts-vocal.

She married Larry Gene Henry on June 18, 1955. He preceded her in death on March 16, 1997. They raised two daughters, Donna and Jo.

She married her second-husband, Ken Thompson, on Jan. 15, 2000, and he preceded her in death on May 22, 2004.

Mrs. Thompson was a friend to all with a compassionate spirit and an eagerness to lend a helping hand. Every hug was certain to leave a trace of her signature vanilla scent, Watkins of course.

Throughout her life she wore many hats. She taught kindergarten and high school English, sharing her passion for education with others. Her love for music carried her through 40 years as a piano teacher and she served as music director at Wheatland Baptist Church.

Mrs. Thompson was also a talented cake decorator, singer, quilter and gardener, as well as a beloved daughter, sister, mother, grandmother and friend.

She was preceded in death by her parents J.W. and Imogene Smith; her husband, Larry Gene Henry; her second husband, Ken Thompson; and a sister, Mary Evalyn Stigall.

Survivors are two daughters Donna Chambers (Dan Chambers) and Jo Henry, all of Weatherford; “son-of-her-heart” Jack Williams (Debi Williams) of Johnson City; her grandchildren, Taylor Turner (Victoria Turner), Jessica Moran (Gregory Moran), and Stephen Scharff, all of Dallas, Brooke Bell of Fort Worth; her great-grandchildren, Eleanor and Edmund Turner; two brothers, Jay Smith (Barbara Smith) of Canyon Lake, Mitch Clark of Thornton; and a brother-in-law, Bill Stigall of San Gabriel.
