Services for Albert “Hootie” August Weller, 84, of Minerva are scheduled for 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 26, 2021, at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale with Pastor Luther Shelander of Mt. Zion Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Minerva.

Visitation is set for 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 25, at the funeral home.

Mr. Weller died Friday, Sept. 17, at his home in Minerva.

He was born Jan. 14, 1937, in Galina Park to August Henry and Emma (Gotthard) Weller.

Mr. Weller served in the U.S. Army from Aug. 30, 1955, to Aug. 15, 1958.

On Aug. 26, 1960, he married Marilyn L. in Richmond and Rosenburg. They came to Rockdale, where he worked as a welder with Alcoa and most recently worked in the garden center at Walmart in Rockdale.

Mr. Weller was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon.

He was a member of Rockdale Masonic Lodge No. 214, Cameron Masonic Lodge No. 170 and Thorndale Masonic Lodge No. 978.

Mr. Weller was preceded in death by a daughter, Lisa Kay Weller; his parents, A.H. and Emma Weller; four brothers; three sisters; and a special sister-in-law.

Survivors are his wife, Marilyn Weller of Minerva; daughters Tina Lopez and husband Thomas of Minerva, Robin Heintze and husband Scott of Sharp; sons Stuart Wolfe and fiancé Lesley of Austin, Jeff Oertli and wife Lisa of Rockdale; brother Henry Weller and wife Dawn of Onalaska; sisters Dorothy Campion of College Station, Dineen Devine of Washington State; eight grandchildren, Vivian Martinez, Aaron, Ashley and Meka Oertli of Rockdale, Rachel and Edward Flores of Brenham, Justin and Esperanza Gonzales of Rockdale, Pete and Mackenzie Heintze of Taylor, Nickie and Matt Bell of Rockdale; and nine great-grandchildren, Jase, Elijah, Madison, Arianna, Hadley, Zayne/(Little Hootie), Brian, Lane and Samuel.
