Whiteley

Donald Ray Whiteley, 79, of Milano died Friday, Oct. 12, 2018, at his home.

Graveside service to interred his ashes will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 22, at Sandy Creek Cemetery near Milano.

Mr. Whiteley was born Feb. 20, 1939, in Vernon to Johnnie Branch and Nola Marie (Holli-man) Whiteley.

He was a firefighter and arson investigator for the city of Houston.

Mr. Whiteley has lived in the Milano area for the past 38 years.

He worked as a Cameron police officer for over 13 years, retiring March 31, 2001.

On Aug. 4, 1973, he married Katie (Mize) Hunt in Mexico.

Mr. Whiteley served in the U.S. Army.

He enjoyed hunting and fishing, collecting guns, knives and deer antlers, going camping and riding his four-wheeler.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a stepson, Steve Hunt.

Survivors are his wife, Katie Whiteley of Milano; a son, Johnny Joel Whiteley of Milano; a stepdaughter, Barbara Graham of Rockdale; a sister, Elizabeth Ann Whiteley Richards of Rock-dale; five grandchildren, Sky Litterell, Jonathan Whiteley, Ceciley Sudduth, Amanda Whiteley Caron and Peyton Hunt; three great-grandchildren, Blake Trevino, Allie Jo Sudduth and Landry Sudduth; and a brother-in-law, J.T. Mize; also, a number of nieces and nephews.
