A homegoing celebration for Yvonne “Monk” Richards Williams was held Saturday, May 11, 2019, at Full Gospel Holy Temple in Dallas with Minister Anthony Kemp officiating.

A wake was held Friday, May 10, at Full Gospel Tabernacle NTC in Dallas.

Mrs. Williams died Sunday, May 5.

She was born April 26, 1936, to the late Jack Rufus Richards and Elma McDonald Richards in Rockdale.

She graduated from Aycock High School in Rock-dale and was a pivotal member on the basketball team.

Following graduation, Mrs. Williams attended Huston Tillotson University in Austin, where she majored in nursing.

Later she moved to Dallas and worked as a nurse at Parkland, Baylor, St. Paul and Methodist Hospitals. She continued to serve as a midwife after she left the medical field to raise her children.

She was married to Nathaniel Williams for 56 years before his passing in November 2016.

Mrs. Williams was an seamstress and upholsterer, enjoyed creating art and cooking.

She was saved, sanctified, and filled with the gift of the Holy Ghost at Full Gospel Tabernacle. She served as an usher, choir member, and deaconess throughout her 53 years of service.

When not operating in ministry, Mrs. Williams could be found in her church suit, matching shoes, and fancy hat. When she died, she was still a dedicated, hat-wearing member of Full Gospel Tabernacle.

Preceding her in death were her husband, Nathaniel Williams in November 2016; a daughter, Clarissa Polk in September 2018; and a son, Sterline Williams in September 2018.

Survivors are six sons, Nathan Williams, Malculm (Theresa) Williams, Frederick Williams, Cornelius (Jessica) Williams, Byron Williams and Jeroid (Ashley) Williams; two daughters, Jacqueline Williams and Elaine Williams; a brother, Ned Richards; and two sisters, Carrie Douglas and Dorothy Barnett; also, 26 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Nathan Williams, Malculm Williams, Frederick Williams, Cornelius Williams, Byron Williams and Jeroid Williams.

Honorary pallbearers were Nathan Williams II, Patrick Williams, Laquintis Harkless, Jonathan Williams, Jalen Harrison, Malculm Williams II and Byron Williams II.
