Charlie Wayne “Skeeter” Williams, 81, of Rockdale died on April 19, 2026, at a Temple hospital.
The funeral service is scheduled for 4 p.m. Saturday, May 16, at Meadowbrook Baptist Church in Rockdale with Pastor Stephen Ammons officiating.
A visitation will be held at 3 p.m. at the church.
Charlie Wayne Williams, son of Lester D. Williams and Thelma M. Williams of Milano, was born Sept. 1, 1944.
He attended school in Milano until he graduated.
He was drafted in 1966 and entered the U.S. Army. He served his country in communications during the Vietnam War in Thailand.
Before shipping out, he married Gloria Claudette Jackson in 1966.
He served from 1966 until 1968.
Upon returning to Rockdale, he began working at Industrial Generating Co. in Rockdale and worked there until he retired. He also worked on the family farm raising cattle.
He was a hard-working family man.
For many years the family vacationed every July at Lake Buchanan. This cherished tradition brought the extended family together at Black Rock Cottages for a week of swimming, fishing, volleyball games and trips to float on the Llano River. The highlight of these gatherings was the wonderful meals followed by games of 42 and reminiscing. Many wonderful memories and strong family bonds were made.
Charlie was a long-suffering Cowboys fan.
He loved playing 42 and listening to country music. His collection of record albums is like nothing you have ever seen.
He had a 1950 Ford pickup truck that was the favorite of all of his Ford vehicles.
He wa s a member of Meadowbrook Baptist Church in Rockdale.
Charlie Wayne was preceded in death by both of his parents; his sister, Billie Jean Owens; and his son, Scott Wayne Williams.
He is survived by his wife, Gloria Claudette Williams; daughter Gwendolyn Suzette Williams; his sister, Patsy Williams Gill; and all of his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
