Yurk

A funeral service for Robert Wayne Yurk, 72, of Thorndale was held Saturday, Dec. 19, 2020, at St. James Lutheran Church in Lexington with Pastor Jonathan Meyer officiating. Burial was at St. James Lutheran Cemetery.

Mr. Yurk died Monday, Dec. 14, in Temple.

He was born Jan. 21, 1948, to Richard Carl and Adelheid Anna (Winkler) Yurk in Fedor.

Mr. Yurk was baptized at St. James Lutheran Church in Lexington and confirmed at St. John Lutheran Church in Lincoln.

He was a graduate of Giddings High School Class of 1966. He then went on to graduate from Southwest Industrial Business College in Houston. On April 4, 1970, he married

On April 4, 1970, he married Pamela K. Niemtschk at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Thorndale.

Mr. Yurk was a welder for IGC/ TU Electric before going to work for the University of Texas as a truck driver and doing maintenance, retiring in January 2010.

He enjoyed being with his family and friends, deer hunting, ranching, gardening, fishing, spending time on his ranch and tending to his cattle.

Mr. Yurk was a member of St. James Lutheran Church in Lexington.

He was a lifetime member of the NRA.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Adelheid Yurk; and a sister, Darlene Koslan and husband Delbert.

Survivors are his wife, Pam Yurk of Thorndale; a son, Wesley Yurk and wife Sherri of Lexington; and two brothers, Victor Yurk, Curtis Yurk and wife Margie, all of Lexington; also, numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

Pallbearers were Ethan Biar, Jeff Winkler, Josh Warner, James Speers, Paul Rudd and James Norment.

Honorary pallbearers were Darren Biar, Gavin Biar, Mark Burkhart, Jimmy Cargill, Al Gardner, Charles Hartfiel, Larry Lehmann, Leroy Polnock, Charles Winkler and Freddie Wensche.

Memorials may be made to St. James Lutheran Church in Lexington, St. Paul Lutheran Church in Thorndale, or to the church of one’s choice.
