Drone show to kick off sesquicentennial

Kickoff of Rockdale’s 2024 Sesquicentennial celebration will be a drone show at Fair Park co-sponsored by the Rockdale Chamber of Commerce and the City of Rockdale on July 4. The sesquicentennial events run from July 4 through July 15.

Clarinetist Bluford makes ATSSB All-State Band

Destinee Bluford, sophomore clarinet player in the Big Blue Band, made it into the Association of Texas Small School Bands (ATSSB). Bluford will participate in the ATSSB All-State Clinic and Concert Feb. 7-10 in San Antonio in conjunction with the Texas Music Educators Association Convention.

Milam County Junior Engineer Club registration begins January 27th

The Milam County Junior Engineer Club will begin registration at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 27, at the Milam County Railroad Museum, 110 W. First Street in Cameron. Junior engineers must bring a parent or guardian to register. This is a model railroad club for kids 10-18 years of age.

MLK parade to be held Monday Rockdale’s Mar t in Luther King parade and celebration will be held at 1 p.m. Monday with Rev. Danny Mitchell as Grand Marshal. The parade will begin at the intersection of Ackerman and Cameron Avenue and end at Sumuel Park, where there will be food, drinks and music.

Rockdale Rotary, Lions Club meeting at RVFD Rockdale Rotary Club meets the first, third and fourth Tuesdays of each month at the Rockdale Volunteer Fire Department from noon to 1 p.m. Lunch is provided.
