Dendy blood drive Thursday in Gause

MILANO NEWS Ablood drive for Gause resident and Milano High School graduate Dendy Brown is scheduled for Thursday at the Gause ISD gym. In September 2018, Dendy was critically injured in an auto accident and required multiple surgeries and transfusions as part of his medical treatment.

Heavenly Treasure

Margaret Shepherd of Lexington said she stops by Heavenly Treasures thrift store every time she’s in town. This week she picked up some Valentine’s goods and searched the inventory for outfits for her twin granddaughters, who were born in December.

Heavenly Treasures Rockdale Christian Services “Heavenly Treasures” thrift store, 233 North Main, serves the needy with gently used clothing and household items at prices from 25 cents to $5. Hours are 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday through Friday. A “$3 Bag Day” is held first Friday of each month.

4-Hers win in plant ID contest

On Saturday the Milam County 4-H Plant ID team competed at the Fort Worth Stock Show. Milam’s 4-H’ers won top honors at the contest. Here are the placings for the Plant ID contest: The second-place junior team was composed of Jenna Lindig, Jacob Jackson, Ryan Luckey and Jack Luckey.

Milam farm donates for ag trust

BURLINGTON—The Texas Agricultural Land Trust recently accept the donation of an agricultural conservation easement by Klein Farms, of Milam & Falls Counties.

May 4 filing pace slow

The filing pace for May 4 city and school elections was non-existent every place but Milano during the past week. MILANO—The three MISD trustees whose terms expire in 2019, have filed in Milano, making that a four person chase for three at-large slots at the moment.

Agroup of us enjoyed playing dominoes Sunday at the home of Wanda and Alfred Coats. we always have a great time—win or lose. Goodness, don’t know the reason but the gravel trucks are busy passing our house this morning. And they’re always in a hurry!

ALL-STATER

Mason Drumm, Thorndale High School band student, has been named a member of the Texas Association of Small School Bands. Student of Rockdale resident Lee Thomason, Drumm plays under the direction of Michael Powers at THS. He is the son of Mark and Jennifer Drumm of Thorndale.
