This is going to be a confusing editorial to read and it wasn’t a bowl of Blue Bell cookies-and-cream to write either. Voters within the Rockdale Independent School District will go to the polls Nov.

A sad memory, a happy new tradition

Another 9/11 anniversary has come and gone, and just like we’re told to “never forget” I don’t think any of us could ever forget that morning. I was working in Houston at The Greensheet newspaper at the time. None of us knew about it until our boss arrived to work a little late.

Milam County is doing well with grants

A grant is money that is made available to local government from our state and federal governments for a specific purpose. Once the money is made available, local government must go through a lengthy written application and qualifying process.

Free food program start date has changed

The date for the Texas Department of Agriculture’s free meal program for Rockdale children and senior citizens has changed.. The free meal program is now set to begin Oct. 5. The distribution site will be 225 North Main and will be open from 4 to 8 p.m.
