Ag boosters to hold virtual meeting Sunday

The Milano Gause Ag Booster Club will hold a virtual meeting on Sunday, Sept. 13. Starting time is 5:30 p.m. Club dues are needed at the September meeting. Check out the group’s Facebook page for more information.

Legion Post 358 meeting Monday American Legion Post 358 will have a regular members’ meeting at the Post at 6 p.m. Monday. “Masks will be required, social distancing will be adhered to, and hand sanitizer will be available at the door,” according to Debora M. McKimmey, Post Adjutant.

Rising Star to celebrate 113 years on Sept. 20 The Rising Star Baptist Church will hold it’s annual anniversary a little differently this year. On Sunday, Sept. 20 at 9:45 a.m. there will be a celebration on their Facebook page sharing pictures and memories. At 10 a.m.

Milam County 4-H members competed in the first Titus-Coryell County 4-H Online Plant ID Contest on Aug. 29. The online contest allowed students to identify the plants in the competition from their homes.

The University Interscholastic League (UIL) is ramping up its efforts to get spectators to follow COVID-19 guidelines. It proposed sanctions for those who fail to comply at sporting events.

Time’s short

Sure we’ve had other things on our minds in 2020. There’s a little matter of a pandemic of which you may have heard. But. Milam County, and Texas for that matter, simply hasn’t done very well in filling out this year’s Census forms.
