Questions, comments for hospital district

Dear editor: Thank you to the Rockdale Hospital Board for allowing the public to come and speak on Oct. 15. Those who spoke were given three minutes each, yes, this included Judge Steve Young. The following questions and comments are not meant to be critical of the board.

I’ll miss Williamson cops, not the jerks

EDITOR’S CORNER Our neighbors to the west—and not too far to the west—won’t be on the Live PD television program any more. Williamson County is all of 12 miles from the western Rockdale city limits.

Milam 4H banquet ahead on Sept. 8th

100 YEARS AGO.... T. B. Kemp & Son Grocery, which had been serving Rockdale since 1885, went out of business and sold its inventory to Scarbrough & Hicks. Both Kemps told The Reporter they were in poor health and decided to close the business.

Ray of hope

Grant would lessen tax burden in quest to get health care for Rockdale Most of the public comments at Thursday’s Rockdale Hospital District hearing were easy to understand. Everybody in the room wanted an emergency room restored to Rockdale. Nobody in the room wanted to have their taxes raised.

EMTs, RVFD volunteers were ‘angels of mercy’ Dear editor: I have to write and thank the “angels of mercy” EMT team that helped my neighbor. He fell and could not get up one morning, but did not call 911 until I could come and get his little dog.

We even get asked about ‘pet’ armadillos

Part of the reason I love working in the newspaper business is because of the people I get to meet. Some of the people are also part of the reason I hate the business, but that is a column for another time.

Progress made in moving Milam forward

JUDGE’S COMMENTS In the last seven months much has been accomplished. Economic development has been at the top of the list every day and there is great hope for the future.

New 4-H year beginning on September 1st

COMMENTS FROM MICAH The 4-H Club is learning by doing and is available to all boys and girls kindergarten through 12th grades, from urban, suburban and rural areas. First, an adult leader brings together youth that have common interests. Second, the youth choose one or more projects.
