Rockdale Earth Day lists 2023 accomplishments

With the close of another year, our organization would like to highlight some of the great activities from last year. Begun in 2015, Rockdale Earth Day has grown and evolved over the years into a community service organization that educates and serves throughout the year.

The 23rd Psalm

Ihave been hanging out with Jesus in the 23rd Psalm. Most of us know the first part of this Psalm, “The Lord is my shepherd;” I don’t know about you, but I need someone to lead me, to guide me, to care for me, to protect me, to provide for me and to give me perspective.

Do you feel connected?

The feeling of being connected is one we all long for. We desire to feel connected to family, to friends, and yes, even our church family. There are times, however, when things happen and we no longer feel connected.

10-20-40-100 YEARS AGO 100 YEARS AGO… The employees of the old-reliable firm of Scarbrough & Hicks Company received a surprise Christmas remembrance in the shape of an extra full week’s pay accompanying their regular weekly paycheck.

Good luck food for New Year’s

Iwrote this method of cooking black-eyed peas in 2021, the hated year when we all needed good luck! It is hereby decreed by the authority vested in me that you have to eat blackeyed peas on New Year’s Day, and I don’t want to hear any bellyaching about it.

ORGANIZATIONS

Rockdale Rotary Club meets the first, third and fourth Tuesdays of each month at the Rockdale Volunteer Fire Department from noon to 1 p.m. Lunch is provided. Rockdale Noon Lions Club also meets at RVFD on the first and third Wednesday of each month with lunch provided.

MARC CHRISTMAS PARTY—The MARC consumers and board members enjoyed their annual Christmas party at the historic Kay Theater on Tuesday, December 12. The consumers watched Surviving Christmas provided by the Kay Theater Board.

Sides for Christmas ribeyes

Kyle’s Kitchen As far as I know we are still having ribeyes grilled by Dad for our Christmas meal and I’m looking for some sides to go with them. I think homemade macaroni and cheese instead of the usual Kraft is in order. This sounds like a good one.
