Rockdale artist, Tommy Nienaber, will have an art show with his works featured at Link & Pin, 2235 E. Sixth St. No. 102 in Austin, from Feb. 16 through March 31. Nienaber started his artistic journey while recovering from a tragic fire caused by a natural gas explosion which caused severe burns.

Six RHS students win top awards at banquet

On Monday evening, Rockdale High School coaches presented “most valuable player” awards at their annual Fall Banquet this past week in the RHS Gymnasium.

San Gabriel Baptist Church to host gospel singing event Saturday San Gabriel Baptist Church will resume hosting an old-fashioned gospel singing event at 6 p.m. Saturday. The evening will feature congregational singing southern gospel music as well as tradit ional hymns.

Fix eyes on Jesus

I’ve got a friend (I know surprising huh?). This guy loves Jesus probably as much as anyone I know. We did church together for a long time and I love my friend, probably because He loves Jesus and He loves me. Regardless of how much my friend loves Jesus ,he struggles.

In 1976, Paul McCartney and his band, Wings, performed his song, Let ’Em In. It was a song about his extended family, actual and symbolic. The refrain ran: Someone’s knocking at the door, Somebody’s ringin’ the bell, Do me a favor, open the door, And let ’em in. Yeah, yeah.

It’s a beautiful Monday morning, as I write this. A great day for January. But it would not matter what the weather is, everyone has certain activities that have to be done. Gause ISD will celebrate the 100th day of school on Friday. Does that mean “we only have so many days until summer vacation”?
