HUGE DONATION—The Alpha One Chevrolet Buick team raised and donated to Rockdale Christian Services 916 pounds of food, 18 pounds of toiletries and household goods, 27 toys and $258 to feed Rockdale’s hungry.

Two Christmas events are happening in our town on December 4. Sponsored by the Rockdale Chamber of Commerce, breakfast with Santa runs from 7:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. at the Patterson Civic Center. Rockdale McDonald’s will be providing pancakes, milk and juice.

Last Wednesday the Tiger Tough Welding Competition was held in the SWAT (Servicing Welders Across Texas) building with students from 26 high schools from all over the state competing and earning welding certifications.

CHILI TIME—The good folks at Climate Control AC & Heating offered to make chili for the Rockdale Downtown Association’s Christmas Tree Lighting last Thursday. Attendees enjoyed 20 gallons of their homemade chili and ate all 20 gallons of it by 6:40 p.m.

This is the classic Jiffy cornbread mix corn casserole, a perfect Thanksgiving side dish. The only difference is the added cheese. Normally there are only five ingredients. This one has cheese on top after it’s baked. But that is optional.
