Ponnaiya wins $4,000 scholarship

Milam County 4-H members competed at the Fort Worth Plant ID Contest on Jan. 20 at the Ft Worth Stock Show. We are extremely proud of our top senior individuals and junior individual who placed first overall and second place overall.

Milam County Historical Commission to meet Feb. 5

The Milam County Historical Commission will conduct its meeting at 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 5 in the Commissioners Courtroom at the Milam County Courthouse. The purpose of this commission is to preserve, protect and promote history within the county.

Cover crop management

The Stiles Farm Foundation will offer an in-person program on cover crop management and an introduction t o t he C limate Smart producer incentive program on Tuesday, Feb. 20. The meeting is free of cost and registration will begin at 8 a.m. at the Stiles Farm Foundation Office.

Goals in sentencing — part two

Two weeks ago, I started talking about what the goals are when sentencing a particular defendant. The first goal we talked about was punishment — punishing the specific defendant for the specific crime that was committed.

Rockdale Police Officers made two felony arrests during the past week including: • A 16-year-old juvenile from Milano was arrested for possession of a controlled substance (less than 1 gram) and possession of marijuana (less than two ounces).
