Candidates offer views in upcoming elections

The elections in Rockdale and Thorndale are May 1 and early voting is underway.

When, where to vote early

Early voting started in Rockdale and Thorndale on April 19 and will continue until April 27. In Rockdale, early voting is taking place in City Hall at the corner of Cameron (U.S 79) and Wilcox. In two days of voting, 17 people have cast ballots. The hours are 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday and Friday.

RCS food pantry Rockdale Christian Services operates a food pantry at 224 West Cameron Avenue, open the second and fourth Thursday and Friday of the each month from 10 a.m. to noon.

TISD closes on purchase of land

Thorndale Independent School District closed on the purchase of 16 acres of land to the east of Stadium Drive on April 15, according to Superintendent Adam Ivy. “It will more than double our current footprint and it is adjacent to our stadium,” he said.
