RHS falls short to rival Cameron, 46-44
Tiger basketball went head-to-head with longtime foe Cameron in a nail-biter Friday, facing off with a visiting Yoe team that currently sits in third place in District 19-3A.
In what was a game of streaks, the Rockdale Lady Tigers had theirs at the wrong time, as Rogers took over late in the fourth quarter to build a 10-point lead before ultimately taking down Rockdale last Tuesday night in Milam County, 49-45.
On Friday night, RHS baseball and softball players got to see opposing competition for the first time this season with the Tigers scrimmaging with Rosebud-Lott, while the Lady Tigers scrimmaged with Holland on the other side of the parking lot.
Tiger golfers made their way to Caldwell’s Copperas Hollow Golf Course on Monday, where senior Monte Taylor placed second with a score 81 while sophomore teammate Mason Lillard was right behind him in third with an 82.
TROY—After a rough couple of days where many Rockdale High School students were stuck in homes without electricity following the recent winter storm, Friday night was a high point for Tiger and Lady Tiger basketball players, who both ended their difficult week with buzzer-beating wins.
RGSL sign-ups to be at ‘Little Dribblers’
According to Rockdale Girls Softball League president Helen Parrish, registration for the upcoming season will take place at the “Little Dribblers” basketball games at the Rockdale High School Gymnasium on Saturday.
Following Tiger basketball’s first district victory since Feb. 18, 2020, head coach Sean Lexima couldn’t help but be overwhelmed with joy after his team beat McGregor 73-62 on Friday night at RHS Gymnasium.
“I’m not going to lie,” he said. “I almost got very emotional.
With a 50-33 home victory over McGregor on Friday night, the Lady Tigers find themselves back inside the playoff bubble.
As of Tuesday evening, the Blue-and-Gold have a record of 6-5 in District 19-3A and currently possess the league’s fourth and final playoff spot.
