Lady Tigers compete well in Caldwell TEMPLE—The Rockdale track team finished in sixth place overall at last week’s Wildcat Relays. Among the many standout performances is the first-place finish in the 200 meter by Tim Grice. Grice left his competition in the dust with a time of 22.5 seconds.

Milano, Thorndale lifters also compete ABILENE—Rockdale powerlifters were finalists in Division 3 of the state powerlifting meet Saturday in Abilene. Br yce Flowers set a new Rockdale High School record with a squat of 655 pounds, which also tied the state record for the 181 lb. weight class.

FRISCO—In what was the first trip for Shelly Segovia and Elizabeth Perry to the state powerlifting meet, the two Rockdale High School sophomores held their own amongst the top competition in Texas. Perry placed 10th in her division while Segovia finished 13th out of 15 lifters.

McGREGOR—Tiger baseball displayed offensive dominance on Friday night after batting in nine runs in the second that helped lead them to a 20-0 run-rule victory after five innings. The win comes after opening district play earlier that week with a 10-2 defeat of visiting Lexington.

Lady Tigers finish historic season

On Friday, Rockdale Lady Tiger soccer came up short to Manor’s New Tech High School, falling 2-0 after the Lady Titans scored twice in the second half. Despite the loss in their 2022-23 finale, the Blue-and-Gold had many highlights throughout the year.

RHS baseball, softball opens up district

Over the weekend, Tiger baseball played in their final tournament of the season with losses to Corsicana, Riesel and West. The Blueand- Gold opened up district play at home with Lexington on Tuesday after press time. They play next in McGregor on Friday. First pitch is scheduled for 7 p.m.
