On Monday, RJH golfers played at the Caldwell Tournament where eighth-grader Mason Lillard won first in the boys division, shooting a 39. Seventh-grader Ali Lay also won an individual medal, placing third in the girls division with a 56.

Grice punches ticket to Austin

Winning gold in the 200-meter dash of Saturday’s finals at the Region III meet in Waco, Tim Grice became the first RHS freshman to qualify for the UIL State Track and Field meet since Jaquayln Crawford won gold as a part of the 4x200-relay team in 2015.

Tigers can’t overcome Lexington in season finale, 2-1

In what was the final high school baseball game for Tiger seniors, the Blue-and-Gold couldn’t quite overcome Lexington pitching and also couldn’t find any luck when they needed it. As a result, RHS fell 2-1 to their Lee County neighbors. “We couldn’t get that timely hit,” said RHS coach John Hooser.

McCoy, Leschber make state

For the second straight year, Thorndale’s Branson McCoy will run in the 100-meter dash at the UIL Class 2A state meet in Austin. The Thorndale senior placed second in finals of the 100 Saturday with a time of 11.

Lady Dogs oust Harper, 16-6

In similar fashion to last year, Lady Dog softball opened the post-season this past Thursday with a decisive victory over Harper in the first round. This time, they beat the Lady Horns, 16-6 in Salado. The win comes after ending their final two district games with losses.

Rockdale Junior High tennis players racked up multiple medals at the Thrall tournament this weekend. De’Andre Nunn and Netise Trejo won the eighth grade mixed doubles division while classmates Mason Lillard and Brody Willard were champions in the boys doubles division.

Blue-and-Gold qualifiers headed to Waco

Going into the Region III meet at Waco’s Midway High School this weekend, first year Tiger track coach Chris Van Cleave says this year’s trip to McClennan County is all about staying focused. “We are focusing on giving these kids a great experience,” Van Cleave said.

Tigers fall in Caldwell, 8-5

Blue-and-Gold baseball lost to Caldwell for the second time in district play, but didn’t go down with out a fight as they put up five runs in the final inning before ultimately losing on the road, 8-5 to their Brazos Valley neighbors.
