TIGER DAY INFO

On Monday, Rockdale Junior High will hold “Tiger Day,” which will honor RJH athletes in front of their families. The ceremony begins at 4:30 p.m. in the RJH Gymnasium and there will be a cookout following the ceremony on the side of the school by the RJH tennis courts.

SCENES FROM STATE TRACK MEET

Thorndale’s Branson McCoy finished seventh in the Class 2A 100-meter dash. This was the Bulldog senior’s second straight trip to state. Tiger freshman Timothy Grice earned silver in the Class 3A 200-meter dash with a time of 21.26, breaking his own personal record.

Bulldogs bite Burton in second round

MUMFORD—Things started off a little rocky for the Thorndale Bulldogs in their area round playoff series with Burton this past week. BHS took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first thanks to back-to-back triples from Chet Fritsch and Jackson Kalkhake.

On Thursday in Austin, Rockdale High School freshman Timothy Grice will line up in the lane four starting blocks of the 200-meter dash at the UIL State Track and Field Championships. With a time of 21.

Thorndale teams leave Caldwell as winners

CALDWELL—Bulldog baseball breezed past Ganado in their series opener early Friday afternoon, throttling the south Texas school, 10-0. However, their opponents were far from finished as GHS coach Luke Barganier saved his ace pitcher Lane Benavides for game two.

Tiger Boosters hold annual tourney

Tiger boosters raised close to $15,700 at their annual golf tournament and fundraiser this past Saturday at the Rockdale Country Club. A team made up of Kirk Williams, Brady Nelson, Kaybee Nelson, Nic Evans and Spencer Evans won first out of 17 teams with a score of 54 and a prize of $750.

CALDWELL—After taking down Normangee, 8-1 in their series opener on Friday evening, Lady Dog head coach Lance Betak wanted his team to make a statement during the beginning of Saturday afternoon’s game two.

More than a dozen win medals for RJH

This past Saturday, 16 Rockdale Junior High student-athletes took home some hardware from the District 19-3A meet in Taylor. Gold medalists were Brody Willard, Mason Lillard, Westyn Smith, Kaylor Eschberger and Greyson Williams.
