Tiger runners ready for state

WACO—Last week, incoming RHS seniors Robert Owens and Tristan Galvan punched their ticket to the the Texas Amateur Athletic Federation’s state track and field meet after the two were a part of qualifying relay teams.

Leschber among area’s top athletes

AUSTIN–This past week, recent Thorndale High School graduate Stryker Leschber was named to the Austin American-Statesman’s Top 50 Central Texas Athletes of the Year list.

Lady Dogs named to All-State squad

Earlier this week, four Thorndale High School softball players were named to the Texas Sportswriters Association’s All-State teams. THS senior Emilee Baker was selected to the first team as an outfielder while junior second baseman Natalie Garcia was picked for the second team.

Soccer camp at Tiger Stadium

More than 40 student athletes came out last week for Rockdale soccer camp, where RHS coaches Gilberto Rodriguez and Shirley Lozano taught area kids basic soccer skills. “We ran the camp like a beginning of the year practice,” Rodriguez said. “Just dribbling the ball first, then through the cones.

Edmonson nominated for HOF

In the last week of June, former RHS coach and Caldwell native Lewis Edmonson was named as an inductee for the Prairie View A&M University Sports Hall of Fame. While on the Panther track and field team, Edmson set a school record in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 13.
