Rockdale JV rattles West, 36-8

After a loss to Lexington the week before, Rockdale’s junior varsity football team bounced back, taking down West, 36-8. The Tigers took the lead when quarterback Brody Willard found Bryson Weaver open for a 45-yard touchdown pass.

Fishing conditions in Central Texas

IOLA—In the battle between two dogs, it was the Thorndale Bulldogs that triumphed this past Friday night, taking down the Iola Bulldogs, 42-6. THS built an early lead with a seven-yard touchdown run by Coy Stutts a little less than five minutes left in the first quarter.

SAN SABA—A two-touchdown lead with seven minutes lef t in the third quarter wasn’t enough for the Tigers to beat Jim Ned, who the Blue-and-Gold lost to on Friday night, 22-21.

Milano takes down Meridian to stay undefeated, 51-6

MILANO—Friday night was business as usual for the Milano Eagle football team, who improved their 2022 record to 3-0 after beating Meridian, 51-6. The Eagles got hot in the opening quarter after quarterback Chris Vasquez found Josh Millar open for a 25-yard touchdown pass.

Bulldogs run over Riesel, 54-21

A little more than halfway through the first quarter of Friday’s game, Thorndale was tied at seven with Riesel after RHS receiver Bryson May scored on a 71-yard touchdown pass from Bryson Hoel- scher.

Lady Tigers fall to Yoe in opener

Despite falling in three straight to rival Cameron in their first district match, each set was decided by two or three points. The opening set was decided in a tie-breaker which the other team from Milam County won 27-25 before the two went neck-and neck in set number two.

This group of Rockdale High School student athletic trainers have been so well-taught, they didn’t even have to replace the school athletic trainer for the 2022 football season. The district now has someone from Baylor Scott & White come to the games to supervise.
