For the second straight year, Rockdale High School junior Yolianna Castillo will play in the Region III tennis Howcourt tournament. ever, she won’t be alone on the this time and will be joined by sophomore Mason Willard after the pair won silver at the district tournament in Georgetown last week.

Last Wednesday at Tiger Gymnasium, RHS senior Taytum Young signed her letter of intent to continue her cheerleading career at Tarleton State University in Stephenville. As a former gymnast who didn’t cheer for the Blue-and-Gold until her junior year, Young described the opportunity as unexpected.

Rockdale High School golf teams wrapped up the District 19-3A tournament on Monday at Temple’s Wildflower Country Club, where the Tigers placed second and earned their 14th consecutive trip to regionals.

Thorndale High School tennis concluded their district tournament in Thrall with a team championship and nine of their members earning a trip to play at the regional tournament. THS senior Chloe Grimm won gold in the girls singles division, beating teammate Kaylee Beason in the finals 6-3,7-5.

Thorndale Bulldog baseball has breezed their way through district competition, outscoring opponents 103-2 in their first seven games. As a result, the Texas High School Baseball Coaches Association has THS ranked sixth in their latest Class 2A poll.

Over the weekend, Rockdale High School’s Golden Girls competed in San Antonio at Danceline USA’s National Dance/Drill Team Championships. While in Bexar County, the team earned Danceline National Sweepstakes, which means the judges gave them scores of 95 or above on all of their performances.
