7th Grade A Team The 7th Grade A Team defeated the Troy Trojans 20-7. In the second quarter, Mason Lillard broke up a pass in the end zone on fourth and goal to prevent a touchdown. On the next play, Lillard dialed up an 89-yard touchdown pass to De’andre Nunn.

Well, it does get cold here

For as long as I can remember, I have never been a fan of cold weather. A nice breeze suits me fine, but anything below 60 and I’m turning on the heat. Last weekend’s events caught me off guard as I was unprepared for the drop in temperature.

RHS gives football lesson to Academy

The Tigers celebrated their homecoming and extended their win streak to three after dismantling the Academy Bumblebees 44-13. They are now 5-3 overall and 3-1 in district play. “I thought we played with extremely great effort in all phases of the game,” RHS Head Coach Jacob Campsey said.

Valdez commits to Red Raiders

Rockdale Tigers star running back Cam’ron Valdez announced his verbal commitment to Texas Tech University on Thursday via Twitter. “Texas Tech was the best place for me because I will thrive in their offense,” Valdez said.

Bocanegra wins District 19 Meet

RHS Freshman Jesus Bocanegra won the District 19 Meet in Cameron on Saturday. His running helped the Tigers cross-country team earn a second-place finish overall.

RHS-Troy is key district fight

With only two regular season games remaining, Friday’s game between the Rockdale Tigers and Troy Trojans will be the key to deciding who will be king of the 11-3A district. Both teams stand 3-1 in district play and are tied with Lorena for first place.

JV Tigers down Academy 36-7

On Thursday, The RHS JV Blue and JV Gold teams joined forces to face off against the Academy JV Bumblebees. The Tigers destroyed the Bees 36-7. Both defenses played great in the first quarter with neither team scoring any points.

Aaron Montelongo wins Junior High District Meet

RJH Aaron Montelongo won the District Meet in Cameron. Montelongo’s time of 11:58 led the boys, team to a second-place finish. “I’m so proud of the work he (Montelongo) puts in, and how much he wants to grow in the program,” RJH Head Coach Cheryl Meuth said.

RHS ends regular season with win against Lady Bees

The RHS netters capped off their regular season finale in style. On Friday, the Lady Tigers were victorious against the Academy Lady Bees in three sets 25-15, 25-21 and 25-22. Julie Bartsch led the Lady Tigers with 12 kills. Haven Jimenez led the team with 15 digs and six aces.

Milano falls to Iola, 51-13

The Milano Eagles’ lack of depth came back to haunt them as they were defeated by the Iola Bulldogs 51-13. The Eagles are now 2-5 on the season and 1-3 in district play. “I am happy that we continued to play hard,” MHS Head Coach Chad Lagrone said. “Due to injuries, we only had 14 guys playing.
