Tiger legend Wright dies at age 78

A man who has a legitimate claim to the title of “Greatest Rockdale Athlete of All-Time” has died at the age of 78. James Leroy Wright Sr. died March 21 in a Charlotte, North Carolina Hospital. A celebration of life for him was held last Friday (March 27) in Charlotte.

Two THS players were named to the 2019-2020 UIL Girls Basketball All-Region team. Senior point guard Savana Taylor and power forward Makayla Lafferty helped the Lady Bulldogs to a 15-7 record, first place finish in District 25-2A and a trip to Area.

 Jacob Campsey, Rockdale High School defensive coordinator under Jeff Miller for the past six years, has been named to succeed Miller as head football coach/athletic director in the Rockdale ISD.  School trustees made that decision Thursday afternoon in a called session.
