Bocanegra fifth-ranked runner in Lone Star State

As of Tuesday, Rockdale Junior High student-athlete Jesus Bocanegra is the fifth fastest eighth grader in the state of Texas. Bocanegra’s time of 11:16.2 at the McGregor ISD Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 14, was good enough to get him amongst the top middle school distance runners in Texas.

RHS JV shutout 12-0 by Mason; RJH beats Bulldogs for third win

On Thursday evening, the Rockdale junior varsity football team fell 12-0 to Mason, a team that traveled 145 miles earlier that day to face the Tigers. The visiting Punchers scored their first TD of the game on a 15-yard run in the first quarter.

Thorndale softball players Bailee Baker, Emilee Baker, McKenzie Becker, Natalie Garcia and Chloe Cargill are part of Thorndale’s fall softball league team that plays every Monday at Old Settlers Park in Round Rock. The girls play this Monday, 6:30 p.m., against Pflugerville on Field 5.

For the second time in district play and the third time this season, the Lady Bulldogs defeated Thrall in a Tuesday night match at the THS Gymnasium 25.-18, 25-15, 21-25, 25-21. Thorndale was led by Landri Leschber and Madi Smith at the net with 18 and 14 kills.
