Bulldogs cage Johnson City

JOHNSON CITY—The Thorndale Bulldogs got their first district win on the road last week against Johnson City. The final score was Thorndale 40, Johnson City 13. The Bulldogs are now 5-4 overall and 1-2 in district play.

STATE QUALIFIERS—The Thorndale Bulldogs and Lady Dogs traveled to Corpus Christi on Monday to compete in the regional meet and had four long-distance runners qualify to run in the state meet. Both Thorndale teams placed sixth overall.

REGIONAL—The Milano Lady Eagles ran in Corpus Christi on Monday at the regional cross country meet. It was senior Itzel Carrillo’s final race on the cross country team. Other team members included: Jarely Carrillo, Kira Cooper, Mirele Cooper, Ardena Gray, Kate Silvey.

Last week the Rockdale Lady Tigers lost on the road against state-ranked Thrall. The varsity lost 25-20, 18-25, 15-25, 20-25.

UNDEFEATED—The Thorndale Lady Dogs are dominating and don’t look like they can be stopped. Currently they are undefeated in district play (7-0) with only three more matches left in the season. Thorndale was to go on the road Tuesday to play against Granger.

The junior varsity Rockdale Tiger football squad continues their winning streak by beating McGregor here at home last week. The final was 33-14. STANDOUTS— Key plays/ players were: • Quarterback Slayde Harris threw three touchdown for 55 yards, one for 30 and another for 20 yards.

McGREGOR—The Rockdale Tigers that started out with three wins out of their first four games have disappeared. Rockdale has dropped their last three games and the season is getting close to being over. After this Friday’s game against rival C.H. Yoe, the Tigers will only have two more games left.

SNOOK—The Milano Eagles are digging out of a hole and are maybe peaking at just the right time. After dropping four of their first five games, the Eagles have won two in a row and these two matter because they are district wins.

Armadillos top Thorndale

THOR N DA L E—The Thorndale Bulldogs hosted the Armadillos from San Saba last Friday night. While it was a close game, Thorndale came up short 36-28. San Saba shut Thorndale out of the first half and were up at half time 21-0.
