Awards continue to roll in for Thorndale athletes

The awards continue to rain down in Thorndale. • Lady Dogs Karis Ginn and Kassidy Eubanks were named to the All-Austin Metro softball team by the Austin Sports Journal.

THORNDALE SUMMER WORKOUTS

Thorndale Lady Dogs and Bulldogs summer workouts for incoming seventh-graders through high school seniors continued at the Thorndale weight room.

CHEER CAMP

Rockdale JV cheerleaders just got back from National Cheerleaders Association Cheer Camp and brought back the Best Chant Award. The four-day camp was held at Tarleton State University in Stephenville

SWIM MEET

Wake Aquatics hosted a swim meet Saturday at Rockdale City Pool. Some of the participants were Milam Giles (L), son of Dell and Fernando Giles of Rockdale; Stratton Masek (center), son of Brad and Julie Masek of Rockdale; and Carson Taylor (R), son of Chris and Christy Taylor of Thorndale.

Some thoughts about high school sports...

Abillion years ago when I was in school, sports was big but not anything like it is today. I bleed blue and gold and I hope I’m second in line behind the greatest Tiger fan ever Jerry Throckmorton.

Fit 22 Football Showcase set for Saturday at stadium

Coach Deron Clay’s Fit 22 Football Showcase camp is coming to Rockdale for the fourth year on Saturday, June 22, at Tiger Stadium. Coach Clay is currently assistant football coach and power lifting coach at Thorndale High School.

Sports, physical fitness not taking summer off

If you are on social media or if you just drive through town you will see that sports—both organized and unorganized— and physical fitness is not taking the summer off. If you drive by the track at the football field there is almost always someone walking and sometimes even running (ha).

Granger Lake GOOD. Water lightly stained; 75 degrees; 2.34 feet above pool. Black bass are fair on spinner baits fished in shallow water. Crappie are good on 1/32 ounce jigs fished over cover in 8-15 feet of water. White bass are very good to 2 pounds on slab spoons fished over main lake humps.
