REGIONAL TOURNEY—The Thorndale Bulldogs wrapped up their tennis season last week at the regional tournament played at the HEB Tennis Center in Corpus Christi.

TEXAS PARKS & WILDLIFE FISHING REPORT

Granger GOOD. Water lightly stained; 65 degrees; 1.64 feet above pool. The lake is up two feet above normal after the recent flood in Granger. Black bass are fair on spinnerbaits and topwaters in shallow cover. Crappie are good on jigs fished over brush in 6 to 12 feet of water.

THORNDALE HIGH SCHOOL BASEBALL

The Thorndale Bulldogs can now add bi-district champions to their resume after defeating Junction last week in a two game series that was played in Wimberly. Thorndale won game one 14-1.

THORNDALE HIGH SCHOOL SOFTBALL

The Thorndale Lady Dogs shut out the Snook Lady Jays 10-0 in Caldwell last week to become area champions. QUARTERFINALS— The Lady Dogs will now play rival Thrall in the regional quarterfinals in Hutto in a best-of-three series.

Rockdale athletes earn all-state honors

Congratulations to these members of Tiger Nation on their hard work both on the field and off the field. • Blaydn Barcak was recently awarded as an Honorable Mention Academic All-State by the Texas High School Coaches Association (THSCA) in baseball.

MILANO SOFTBALL

COMING UP SHORT—Milano Lady Eagle Toni Meyer pitching against Latexo last week in area playoffs. The Lady came up short in their postseason run, falling to Latexo, 5-2 and 6-5. Despite the defeat, they had a great season finishing third in district at 11-5 and 17-11-1 overall.

ROCKDALE TENNIS

SECOND PLACE—Way to go, Rockdale Tigers Mason Lillard and Brody Willard, for coming in second place at the recent district tennis tournament. They won 7-6, 6-1 and now move on to regional play. They are coached by former Tiger Dustin Strelsky.

Thorndale tracksters compete at state

Thorndale senior Carson McCoy won the state championship in Austin last week in the 200M dash with a time of 21.8. McCoy competed this year in the 100M dash and was the silver medalist, coming in second with a time of 10.7.

ROCKDALE HIGH SCHOOL BASEBALL

After a playoff drought of 12 years, former Tiger and head baseball coach Austin Caffey’s squad rolled over the Groesbeck Goats last week in the first round of the playoffs. Thursday’s game was called because of weather and it was not just the weather that looked bad.
