Rockdale Fall Music Festival is ramping up, lining up the live music acts, promoting the car show, acquiring crafts and food vendors.
Looks to be another great Fall Festival.
And they did, Friday through Sunday as dozens of local and area locations hosted garage sales in Rockdale’s annual Labor Day Weekend extravaganza. The event is sponsored by the Rockdale Chamber of Commerce in cooperation with The Rock-dale Reporter.
Thursday was the first day of school in he 2019-2020 term in the Rockdale ISD and for the first time in several years the district recorded a gain in first-day attendance. A total of 1,468 came to classes in the district’s four campuses, up three from 1,465 the first day of 2018-19.

GLEN JEAN, WV—Five Rockdale Boy Scouts were were among the 45,000 scouts and leaders who attended the 24th World Scout Jamboree, international Scouting’s event, July 22-Aug.
Gause United Methodist Church will recognize and bless area school children, their parents and school staff on Sunday during the worship service that begins at 9:30 a.m.

Historical group to meet Monday
The Milam County Historical Commission’s meeting will be Monday, Aug. 12 at 10 a.m. at St. Johns United Methodists Church, 1700 Hillcrest Drive, Rockdale.
The purpose of the commission is to preserve, protect, and promote history within the county.
