VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL CAMPS

Vacation Bible schools offer a variety of activities with a Christian message for students of all ages. These are the programs in the area: Aug. 5-9—Calvary Baptist Church will hold VBS through Friday from 6-8:30 p.m. at 1443 South FM 487, Rockdale for pre-kindergarteners through sixth graders.

School kicks off with prayer walk Meadowbrook Baptist Church will host a prayer walk 6 p.m., Wednesday. The walk begins at 1401 Colorado Ave., Rockdale and Thorndale residents should meet at Thorndale school. Call 512-446-3367 for more information.

Ag boosters meeting set for Monday

Milano/Gause Ag Boosters will hold their next monthly meeting on Monday. The meeting will be held at 6 p.m. in the MHS cafeteria. The group had also started their fall “Freezer Full of Meat” fundraiser. Tickets are $5 each or five for $20.

Vista Ridge discussion part of Aug. 14 ‘summit’

CALDWELL—The annual Milam and Burleson Counties Groundwater Summit. will be Aug. 14, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Caldwell Civic Center. The civic center is located at 103 Texas 21 in Caldwell, according to Post Oak Savannah Groundwater Conservation District (POSGCD) spokesman Doug Box.

Building a personalized eating plan that is sustainable and meet nutritional needs is key to your health and success. A nutritious meal plan should not have extreme limitations on foods, have you eating less than 1,200 calories per day or consuming only liquids.

RHS grad completes USAF basic course

SAN ANTONIO—U.S. Air Force Airman Autumn S. Montelongo recently graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland in San Antonio.

—The Walmart Foundation has bestowed a $1,500 Community Giving grant to the Milam Adult Resource Center. Making the presentation were local Walmart manager Eulalio Sanchez and Terrace Mitchell, Personnel Manager. Looking on were some of the center’s clients.

Milano, Thorndale teachers get raises

Milano and Thorndale teachers will join with Rockdale instructors—and for that matter, those throughout the state—in receiving significant raises for the 2019-20 school term as part of the new HB 3. (For story on Rockdale ISD see page 1A).

Apache Pass to host annual trail meeting

The El Camino Real de los Tejas National Historic Trail (ELCAT), which spans 41 Texas counties will hold its annual meeting at Apache Pass in Milam County Oct. 11-12. Special events are being planned for member participants for Oct. 12, according to Steven Gonzales, Executive Director of the Trail.

Cemetery cleanup well attended

Twelve people attended the Pleasant Hill Cemetery Organization’s Annual Homecoming lunch and cemetery cleanup on July 14. The annual cleanup takes place every second Sunday of July and the descendants of those buried at Pleasant Hill Cemetery are invited.
