School’s out for summer

School is out for summer! Please be safe, rest, and have fun! CAR WASH/BAKE SALE— The First Baptist Church will have a car wash and bake sale at the Milano VFD June 8 to support the kids going to church camp. Go get your car cleaned up and enjoy some yummy treats.

Kyle’s Kitchen Once tomato and cucumber season comes, Mom usually makes a big bunch of that cucumber, tomato and sweet onion salad with vinegar and peppercorns. We all love it and have it with most meals. Here is an Asian version of cucumber salad that is also very good.

Rockdale High School 2024 Graduation

Rockdale High School’s 2024 graduation went off without a hitch to a packed crowd on Friday night. Firetruck sirens and confetti signaled the end of the ceremony as the 96 seniors threw their hats in the air.

Pet of the Week Meet Chester. He is a 14-year-old, microchipped Rat Terrier/ Chihuahua mix, weighing 14 pounds. Chester is dog-friendly and kennel trained. He is sweet, elderly dog that wants to please and loves to be in someone’s lap.

Last Sunday Dad got us some barbeque chicken plates from the Milano Seniors at the KC Hall and included on the plates were the German noodles that are so popular everywhere but Rockdale. I wonder why it is that in Rockdale they are not popular. A mystery because they are so delicious.

Rockdale celebrates Earth Day

The Spanish Club from RHS got to work on the flower beds at the Rockdale Senior Center on Green Street on Friday. New plants were added and a lot of winter debris was swept up, bagged and taken away.
