The bell tower of The 1895 was lifted on Tuesday to find out how much it weighs and to weld a spiral staircase inside. The tower weighs 84,700 pounds.

Rockdale PD makes two felony arrests during past week

Rockdale Police Officers made two felony arrests dur ing the past week including: • Jaden Nacole Sims, 19, Round Rock, was arrested for possession of a controlled substance (less than 1 gram) and for possession of marijuana (less than 2 ounces.

Prayer breakfast set at Mount Zion Baptist Mount Zion Baptist Church will hold a prayer breakfast from 7:30 to 8 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 6, with a program afterward which will last until 9 a.m. Mount Zion Baptist is located at 107 E. Church St. in Thorndale.

Are holiday decorations economic development?

Rockdale recently lit up with Holiday decorations, centered on downtown. The city contributed some money to this effort and the Rockdale MDD will make a contribution for next year’s decorations. Wait – is that really an economic development expense?
