The 70th annual Rockdale Chamber of Commerce Banquet was held on Thursday night at the New Salem Clubhouse at Fair Park. This year’s theme was Small Town America and featured both awards and a catered barbeque meal from Thorndale Meat Market.
Fences require building permits in Rockdale, whether it’s new construction or reconstruction of an existing fence. We do this so we can alert property owners to height and material requirements, location of underground water and sewer lines, and public utility easements. A fence is one of the very few things that can be erected in an easement, but if the utility provider needs to access their lines, your fence may have to be removed to allow that to happen. In a front yard, fences can be no more than three feet high. In side and back yards, you can build a fence up to eight feet tall.
