Juan Rubio and his crew put up lights on all the downtown buildings this year, the first decorations for Rockdale in three years. A group of individuals, organizations and businesses raised $32,850 for new decorations, and a workday on Saturday saw a lot of them go up.

City, RMDD adopt new logo in rebranding effort

The City of Rockdale and the Rockdale Municipal Development District (RMDD) recently adopted a new logo and tagline. The RMDD approved the new brand at their Oct. 23 meeting and the city council adopted the brand on Nov. 13.

Early filings announced

Early filings for county positions were announced last week by Milam County Judge Bill Whitmire. The deadline to file 6 p.m. Dec. 11 so this story could change in the next few weeks. Two positions, so far, will be contested races.

POSGCD to hold hearing

Post Oak Savannah Groundwater Conservation District (POSGCD) will hold a public hearing for the adoption of its 2024 budget, production fees, transportation fees and fee schedules at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 28, at the office in Milano. The current production fee is $0.

ORGANIZATIONS

Rockdale Rotary Club meets the first, third and fourth Tuesdays of each month at the Rockdale Volunteer Fire Department from noon to 1 p.m. Lunch is provided. Rockdale Noon Lion’s Club also meets at RVFD on the first and third Wednesday of each month with lunch provided.
