Rockdale Police Officers made three felony arrests during the past week including: • Mallory Allison DeLeon, 18, Rockdale, was arrested on Tuesday for possession of a controlled substance (less than 1 gram) in a drug free zone. • Dennis Keith Johnson 57, Rockdale, was arrested Friday by Sgt.

Rockdale VFD Responded to: • Cameron Avenue at San Gabriel for a two-vehicle accident on Wednesday. Milano VFD Responded to: • North TX 36 at East US 79 for traffic control for an 18-wheeler that had lost its load on Tuesday.

Last week, we talked about the first stages of jury selection – from getting summoned to the excuses sometimes used to get out of jury duty. This week, we will discuss the next s tage, h ow t he a ctual jury gets picked.

MILAM COUNTY JAIL LOG

Jail log lists all people charged with offenses through the county jail in Cameron. Charges may change during the process. Persons are presumed innocent until convicted in a court of law. • Eric Christopher Ochoa, 26, Cedar Creek, tamper/fabricate physical evidence with intent to impair, in custody.

ORGANIZATIONS

Rockdale Rotary Club meets the first, third and fourth Tuesdays of each month at the Rockdale Volunteer Fire Department from noon to 1 p.m. Lunch is provided. Rockdale Noon Lions Club also meets at RVFD on the first and third Wednesday of each month with lunch provided.

Mary Neely reports that there will be no weekly Bible study at Gause Methodist Church until 5 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 17. The teachers need to take time off. This Monday was a beautiful December morning. I’m sure those who were working outside were glad for that.

Liberty Church to hold holiday service Dec. 10 Liber t y Communit y Church will hold a Thanksgiving/ Christmas service at 4 p.m. Dec. 10. A meal and fellowship will be enjoyed and everyone is asked to bring a covered dish.

City closes on $12 million public improvement district bonds

The City of Rockdale closed and received over $12 million in Public Improvement District (PID) bonds in connection with the Cornerstone subdivision on Dec. 17. “The City Council and staff have worked very hard to make this happen,” said Rockdale Mayor Brett Boren.
