Betrayed? Turn to God

Years ago I had a friend who betrayed me. John the Apostle, described himself six times as the disciple who Jesus loved. What John was saying was that he was Jesus’ best friend. The friend that betrayed me was my John, I loved him, and he was my best friend.

Why is this book in the Bible?

“What is this book doing in the Bible?” Puzzled, a man had come to his pastor to ask him this question. “Which book?” asked the pastor. “The Song of Songs, why is it in the Bible?” Why was the man upset? What had he found in the Song of Songs that so frustrated him?

Peace Lutheran Ash Wednesday, Lent services Peace Lutheran Church will have an Ash Wednesday service at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 14. Soup suppers will commence during Lent starting on Feb. 21, on each Wednesday. Delicious soups and desserts will be served at 6 p.m.

We’re expecting! Rockdale’s new industrial park

The MDD has been working very hard to activate a property as a new industrial park. This 550acre tract is at the southeast corner of the Highway 77 and 79 intersection. It is owned by a private company.

McDaniel wins $500 scholarship

Twenty-one Milam County 4-H members competed at the Central Texas Consumer Decision Making Contest on Saturday, January 27 in Gatesville. The top senior individual was Macy McDaniel who won first place and a $500 scholarship.

Patton Muston, 7, a fourth-generation Muston family volunteer firefighter was put to work by his father, Preston, on Saturday during practice drills at the RVFD.

Williams wanted for two first-degree felonies

Milam County authorities are looking for a suspected drug dealer. Arrest warrants have now been issued for Jamal D. Williams in connection to a search warrant executed by the Milam County Sheriff ’s Office earlier this week.

Rockdale Rotary Club meets the first, third and fourth Tuesdays of each month at the Rockdale Volunteer Fire Department from noon to 1 p.m. Lunch is provided. Rockdale Noon Lions Club also meets at RVFD on the first and third Wednesday of each month with lunch provided.
